Ivar’s Display’s President, Karl Gundersen Announces Retirement after 46 Years

Karl Gundersen, eldest son and right-hand successor of founder Ivar Gundersen, announced his retirement after 46 years. During his career from 1966 (est.) -2012, Karl proved instrumental in laying the company’s foundation and transitioning Ivar’s Cabinet Shop, Inc. from a “Mom and Pop” wood shop to a state-of-the-art, mid-sized business that employs roughly 70 employees. Thanks in large part to Karl’s leadership, Ivar’s Displays (DBA) is known nationally as a leading wood display manufacturer. Karl continues to own a large portion of the company, therefore he will remain involved in major business decisions, and promises to visit the premises on occasion.

With Karl’s retirement comes a reorganization of roles within the company. Most notably that of Karl’s brother & longtime partner, Ivan Gundersen being named President.  Ivan’s first goal as President is to add “leading metal display manufacturer” to Ivar’s Displays’ already stellar reputation. Ivan’s immediate plans include adding an extensive, on-site metal fabrication and welding department, set to launch Q2, 2013.  Karl has shared that he, “looks forward to watching the company’s display making capabilities and opportunities expand under Ivan’s leadership”.

Karl will celebrate his retirement on 2/9/2013 at TAPS in Corona alongside his wife Nancy, extended family, longtime friends, associates and co-workers. During his golden years, Karl plans to travel, enjoy time on Lake Mohave in Laughlin, Nevada, and spend time with his 14 (thus far!) grandchildren.

Established in 1966, Ivar’s has grown to become the nation’s most trusted provider of custom displays. Ivar’s strives to increase their customers’ sales with their displays in such a way that is better, faster, and less expensive than the competition.
