Ivar's Displays is officially over 50 years old!
Check out this handwritten leger in Ivar Gundersen's handwriting, from March of 1966. At that time, Ivar was the designer, estimator, carpenter, delivery driver, purchaser, receiver, accountant, painter, secretary, janitor.......(and anything else the job required).
Now 50 years & 4-generations later, Ivar's Displays remains a family business & employs about 100 employees in both California & North Carolina.

Ivar’s Cabinet Shop Inc. of Ontario, Calif., will build its first plant outside of California in a shell building in Foothills Commerce Center in Shelby, North Carolina.

Ivan Gundersen, CEO of Ivar’s, says the availability of the spec building helped him decide to bring the new facility to North Carolina.

“Paired with a supportive business climate and incentives, the community and the state fit our needs perfectly,” he says.

N.C. Gov. Pat McCrory says Ivar’s will make Cleveland County its East Coast base of operations.

Following Karl Gundersen’s retirement, a reorganization of roles has been announced at Ivar’s Displays.

As previously announced, Karl’s brother and longtime business partner, Ivan Gundersen has taken on the role of President.

Following in suit, Karl’s son, Jason Gundersen has been named C.F.O./Secretary of Treasury.

Ivan’s son, Erik Gundersen has been promoted to C.O.O.

In addition, Kevin Guerin has been appointed as the company’s new Director of Marketing.

Ivar’s will install 880 solar panels, projected to produce over 430,000 kWh (or 90% of Ivar’s electrical needs).  Heliopower has been contracted to supply and install the new solar system, along with re-roofing the facility. Permitting and construction will begin immediately, with completion scheduled to be no later than New Year’s, 2015. 

Ivar’s announces the launch of an on-site metal fabrication and welding department. The new state-of-the-art department has the ability to manufacture displays and parts from sheet metal, tubing, and wire.

The metal department will be headed by Peter Lopez, an experienced fabricator with decades of experience.  Mr. Lopez will have a 5kw Mitsubishi Laser, CNC press brake, sheer, tube-bender, iron-worker and multiple welders assisting his lead with this launch.

Karl Gundersen, eldest son and right-hand successor of founder Ivar Gundersen, announced his retirement after 46 years. During his career from 1966 (est.) -2012, Karl proved instrumental in laying the company’s foundation and transitioning Ivar’s Cabinet Shop, Inc. from a “Mom and Pop” wood shop to a state-of-the-art, mid-sized business that employs roughly 70 employees. Thanks in large part to Karl’s leadership, Ivar’s Displays (DBA) is known nationally as a leading wood display manufacturer.
